Barracuda Original Gyotaku Fish Rubbing by Alex Dragoni

This is a Original, one of a kind, Loose Gyotaku Fish Rubbing, painted by Alex Dragoni from Madeira Beach Florida. This is a Barracuda caught from the Gulf of Mexico. This fish is 10x33 inches long, done in blue and gold colors. It is painted with Acrylic paint on a black rice paper. We can paint an eye on if you like upon request after purchase. Some people prefer the eye some like it without. This rubbing is one time pull right off the fish no touch ups at all. The only thing we usually add on is the eye to bring it to life. Without the eye painted you usually can see the original eye socket/location. I also include a hand signed full colored Certificate Of Authenticity, which has pictures and explains a little bit about the process and artist. Gyotaku (Gyo "fish" + taku "rubbing") Is a traditional Japanese method of printing fish. A practice dating back hundreds of years, originally done by brushing ink on the body of the fish, then rubbing the fish with cloth or rice paper. This form of nature printing was used by fisherman to record size and species of their catches. The rubbings immortalize the fish and all of their natural and unique details. Gyotaku is not a perfect science and there is no such thing as a perfect rub. All of my paintings have small imperfections/smudges/splatter marks which make them unique and one of a kind. My prints are done with cotton fabric so my rubs have some wrinkles occasionally but no worries because when you take it to your framer, they should press mount it which removes all wrinkles.
