Original Kingfish Gyotaku Fish Rubbing by Artist Alex Dragoni
$250.00
This is a Original, one of a kind, Loose Gyotaku Fish Rubbing, painted by Alex Dragoni from Madeira Beach Florida. This is a Kingfish caught from the Gulf of Mexico. It is painted with Acrylic paint on a %100 Black cotton fabric top quality. The Kingfish measures 14x52 inches and the total fabric length is 22x68 inches. Gyotaku (Gyo "fish" + taku "rubbing") Is a traditional Japanese method of printing fish. A practice dating back hundreds of years, originally done by brushing ink on the body of the fish, then rubbing the fish with cloth or rice paper. This form of nature printing was used by fisherman to record size and species of their catches. The rubbings immortalize the fish and all of their natural and unique details. Gyotaku is not a perfect science and there is no such thing as a perfect rub. All of my paintings have small imperfections which make them unique and one of a kind.
